T1 : aralkyl; T2 : aryl; T3 : phenylsulfonyl; T4 : 1-7C alkyl; T5 : heteroaryl; T6 : polyether; T7 : halo; T8 : monohydroxyalkyl; T9 : heterocycle; T10 : polyhydroxyalkyl; R1 : 1-10C alkyl, 1-7C T1 or 1-7C T2; either R2 : T2, T3, T5 (all optionally substituted), H, T4, T1 or heterocyclic; and R2a : H; or R2+R2a : T9; R3 : H, 1-3C alkyl, T6, T2, T1, T5, T8 or T10; X : S, CH 2, N or O; Y1 : O or S; and n : 1-2. An independent claim is also included for a composition (A) comprising (I) in a medium. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor modulator. The ability of (I) to modulate peroxisome proliferator activated receptor was tested in biological assays. The results showed that the median activation concentration of (I) was found to be 10 nM.
