Abstract

The present invention discloses a method of selecting or isolating UV-resistant bacteria, having the ability to grow in the presence of lignin, cellulose and/or xylan as an only carbon source, bacteria obtainable by this method, and the use thereof for hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass to produce bioenergy products or organic acids.
