Abstract

An RF tissue ablation system (100) with a Joule-Thomson cooler. The Joule-Thomson cooler is used for limiting the temperature of the RF electrodes. An RF generator (62) generates electromagnetic energy to ablate the tissue, and the electromagnetic energy may also be used to re-warm the probe (20) when the probe (20) is used as a cryoprobe.
