Abstract
Systems and methods for secure purchasing are provided in which an invoice comprising an amount to be remitted and a merchant identification is generated. The invoice is transmitted to a remote invoice database. At a device associated with a consumer, the invoice identification is received. A request including the invoice identification is sent to the remote invoice database thereby retrieving information about the invoice including an amount to be remitted and a merchant identification. Responsive to receiving consumer confirmation of the invoice, an approval of the invoice is transmitted to an account database comprising at least one account corresponding to the consumer. At a device associated with the account database, after receiving invoice approval, the invoice amount is remitted to the merchant in the form of a bank check that identifies the merchant and a notification of the check and the merchant is stored in the remote account database.
Claims
-
A method for secure purchasing, comprising:
at a first electronic device associated with a merchant, the first electronic device having one or more processors and memory:
generating an invoice comprising an amount to be remitted and a merchant identification, wherein the invoice is associated with an invoice identification and
transmitting the invoice to a remote invoice database;
at a second electronic device associated with a consumer, the second electronic device having one or more processors, memory, and a display:
receiving the invoice identification;
transmitting a request for information about the invoice to the remote invoice database, the request including the invoice identification;
receiving the information about the invoice from the remote invoice database, the information including an amount to be remitted and a merchant identification, from the remote invoice database;
displaying the amount to be remitted and the merchant identification from the invoice, and a prompt to confirm the invoice;
responsive to receiving confirmation of the invoice from the consumer, transmitting an approval of the invoice to a remote account database comprising at least one account corresponding to the consumer; and
at a third electronic device associated with the remote account database, the third electronic device having one or more processors and memory:
after receiving the approval of the invoice from the second electronic device, remitting the amount of the invoice to the merchant in the form of a bank check, wherein the bank check identifies the merchant and wherein a notification of the check and the merchant is stored in the remote account database when the check is remitted.
- The method of claim 1, wherein the bank check is configured to enable the merchant to accept the bank check in favor of a designated account, re-assign the bank check in favor of a recipient other than the merchant, cash the bank check, or direct the bank check to a cash machine specified by the merchant.
- The method of claim 1, wherein the remote account database is a bank associated with the consumer.
-
A smartphone comprising memory and one or more processors, wherein the smartphone is configured to operate in a first mode or a second mode, wherein the first mode is sandboxed from the second mode so that data acquired or stored by the second mode cannot be communicated to the first mode,
the second mode is accessed by a consumer through a challenge that is separate from the first mode,
the second mode functions as an independent smart phone, and
the second mode executes a transactional method without invoking the first mode of the smart phone.
- The smartphone of claim 4, wherein the second mode is switched on and off manually or mechanically.
- The smartphone of claim 4, wherein the smartphone further comprises read only memory and wherein the second mode is run on a separate instance of an operating system that is stored in the read only memory.
-
A device coupling comprising a main device and a smart-watch-bracelet,
the main device comprising one or more processors and a first memory, the
smart-watch-bracelet comprising one or more processors and a second memory, the second memory storing instructions for performing a method, the method comprising:
receiving a login credential from a user; and
logging the user into an account hosted by the smart-watch-bracelet when the login credential matches a stored login credential and the smart-watch-bracelet is locked on a wrist of the user.
- The device coupling of claim 7, wherein the login credential is an alphanumeric password, a finger-print scan, a facial scan, or an iris scan.
-
The device coupling of claim 7, wherein, when the smart-watch-bracelet is unlocked from the wrist or cut, the method further comprises:
automatically logging the user out of the account, and
sending an off signal to the main device.
- The device coupling of claim 7, wherein the main device is a smart phone.
- The device coupling of claim 7, wherein, when the smart-watch-bracelet is greater than a predetermined distance from the main device, the main device sends an alarm to an emergency service.
-
A method for secure purchasing, the method comprising:
at a first electronic device associated with a consumer, the first electronic device having one or more processors, memory, and a display:
receiving an invoice that includes information about a merchant that issued the invoice;
upon verification of the information about the merchant, wherein the verification includes receiving an identity of a bank associated with the merchant from a remote merchant database responsive to a query by the first electronic device that includes the information about the merchant in the invoice, issuing a payment order to the merchant that includes the identity of the bank associated with merchant and the information about the merchant; and
at a second electronic device associated with a payment system, the second electronic device comprising one or more processors and memory:
receiving the payment order; and
upon verification of the identity of the bank associated with the merchant and the information about the merchant, using the remote merchant database, honoring the payment order.
- The method of claim 12, wherein the identifying information about the merchant comprises a legal or corporate name of the merchant, an address of the merchant, or a web address of the merchant.
-
An electronic-money-for-banks-system comprising one or more processors and memory, the memory storing non-transitory instructions for executing a method, the method comprising:
receiving an original respective cash payment from each corresponding entity in a plurality of entities;
crediting each respective entity in the plurality of entities with cash equivalents commensurate with their respective original cash payment;
hosting a plurality of financial transactions, each financial transaction in the plurality of transactions being between a first entity and a second entity in the plurality of entities, wherein
each financial transaction in the plurality of financial transactions exchanges cash equivalents for goods or services, and
each financial transaction in the plurality of transactions is registered with the electronic-money-for-banks-system thereby enabling retrieval of a payer, a receiver and a purpose of payment of each transaction;
receiving a cash request from a third entity in the plurality of entities, wherein the cash request comprises a request for cash in exchange for cash equivalents that the first entity has vested within the electronic-money-for-banks-system through their original cash payment or through financial transactions in the plurality of financial transactions that the first entity participated in; and
responsive to the cash request, providing the entity with cash for all or a portion of the cash equivalents that the first entity has vested within the electronic-money-for-banks-system.
- The electronic-money-for-banks-system of claim 14 wherein the cash equivalents comprises an electronic crypto-currency.
-
A cash informing and handling system, comprising one or more processors and a memory, the memory storing non-transitory instructions for executing a method, the method comprising:
receiving a request for cash from a user, wherein the request includes a credential;
upon verification of the credential, honoring the request by dispensing an amount of cash identified by the request to the user; and
providing the user, upon verification of the credential and dispensing the amount of cash, with a message regarding one or more destinations that the user can remit the cash at to obtain a commission for the cash in addition to full credit for the cash.
