<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions for an anticancer agent or an adjuvant thereof having activity such as hematopoietic stimulation, inhibition of cancer metastasis and protection of bone marrow. <P>SOLUTION: The compositions are extracts from leaves and/or stems of plants belonging to one or more genus Panax selected from the group consisting of Panax ginseng, Panax quinquefolium, Panax notoginseng, Panax pseudoginseng, Panax japonicum and Panax vietnamensis. The method for preparation of the extracts includes steps of (a) giving a crude extract solution by heating the leaves and/or stems of genus Panax in water (hot water treatment); (b) optionally concentrating the crude extract solution; (c) precipitating and separating polysaccharides contained in the crude extract solution using an organic solvent; and (d) removing the organic solvent to give the polysaccharides fraction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
