Abstract
Systems and methods to implement a payment platform for users support making payments for postal purchases, the payments being based on postage evidencing protocols, using a (client) computing device. One aspect of the disclosure relates to systems and methods to effectuate performance of payments and/or secured payment transactions for the purpose of postal purchases. Postal purchases refer to purchases, payments, and/or transfers of value for the purpose of securing transportation, carriage, freight, and/or delivery of postcards, envelopes, letters, documents, articles, packages, mail, and/or other shipments, and/or for the purpose of securing proof of mailing, protection in transit, and delivery confirmation thereof.
Claims
-
A system configured to effectuate performance of a payment of one or more postal purchases between a first user and a second user, wherein the first user is a payer and the second user is a payee, wherein the first user is account holder of a first secured payment account, wherein the second user is account holder of a second secured payment account, the system comprising:
one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to:
obtain attributes of a payment of one or more postal purchases from the second user, wherein the attributes include a payment amount;
present the attributes of the payment to the first user; and
receive, from the first user, information related to effectuation of the payment between the first secured payment account and the second secured payment account, wherein the payment corresponds to the first amount.
- The system of claim 1, wherein the first secured payment account and the second secured payment account support payments that are based on one or more postage evidencing protocols.
- The system of claim 1, wherein the information is digitally signed or the information includes a digital signature that is verifiable through a public encryption key.
- The system of claim 1, further comprising an electronic display, wherein the one or more physical processors are configured to present the attributes of the payment via a user interface configured to facilitate interaction through the electronic display.
-
A system configured to effectuate performance of a transfer of value between a first user and a second user in support of one or more postal purchases, wherein the first user is a payer and the second user is a payee, wherein the first user is account holder of a first secured payment account, wherein the second user is account holder of a second secured payment account, the system comprising:
one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to:
obtain, from the first user, attributes of a first secured payment transaction involving the first user, wherein the attributes include a first payment amount, and wherein the first secured payment transaction supports one or more postal purchases;
obtain, from the second user, attributes of a second secured payment transaction involving the second user, wherein the attributes include a second payment amount, wherein the second payment amount equals the first payment amount;
authenticate the transfer of value based on a comparison of the attributes of the first secured payment transaction and the attributes of the second secured payment transaction; and
effectuate, through execution of the first and second secured payment transactions, the transfer of value in the first payment amount from the first secured payment account to the second secured payment account, wherein the transfer of value corresponds to the attributes of the first secured payment transaction and the attributes of the second secured payment transaction.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the transfer of value is based on one or more postage evidencing protocols.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the attributes of a second secured payment are digitally signed or include a digital signature that is verifiable through a public encryption key.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the one or more physical processors are configured to effectuate the transfer of value through a transmission to a centralized payment authority associated with one or both of the first secured payment account and/or the second secured payment account.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured to obtain a confirmation from a centralized payment authority that the transfer of value has been completed.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the one or more postage evidencing protocols are authorized by the United States Postal Service (USPS).
- The system of claim 5, wherein the one or more physical processors are configured to obtain authorization from the second user by receiving user input through a user interface, and wherein effectuating the transfer of value is responsive to obtaining the authorization.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured to obtain a confirmation from a centralized payment authority that the transfer of value has been completed.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the attributes of the first secured payment transaction include an identifier that identifies the second secured payment account.
- The system of claim 5, wherein the attributes of the second secured payment transaction include an identifier that identifies the first user.
-
A device configured to effectuate performance of payments of postal purchases, wherein the device is associated with a first user, wherein the first user is account holder of a first secured payment account, the device comprising:
one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to:
obtain attributes of a payment of one or more postal purchases, wherein the payment is from the first user to an account holder of a second secured payment account, wherein the attributes include an identifier associated with a second secured payment account and a payment amount;
obtain authorization from the first user to initiate the payment, wherein the authorization pertains to the attributes; and
initiate the payment in which the payment amount will be debited from the first secured payment account and deposited to the second secured payment account;
receive a payment token that represents a value redeemable for the payment amount; and
communicate the payment token to the account holder of the second secured payment account.
- The device of claim 15, wherein the payment is based on one or more postage evidencing protocols.
- The system of claim 15, wherein the payment token includes information that is digitally signed or wherein the payment token includes a digital signature that is verifiable through a public encryption key.
- The device of claim 15, further comprising an electronic display, wherein the one or more physical processors are configured to present the attributes of the payment via a user interface configured to facilitate interaction through the electronic display.
- The device of claim 15, wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured to obtain account authentication that authenticates access to the first secured payment account.
- The device of claim 15, wherein the one or more physical processors are configured to initiate the payment by a transmission to a centralized payment authority associated with the first secured payment account.
